Escape the Heat with a Cool Mountain Swim Take half a day off and join us in a secret Albanian getaway spot where you can touch history and nature together. The charming village of Prekal is situated to the north of Shkodra on the banks of the Kiri River (yea, that’s us!). It’s long been a secret swimming hole for the local Shkodrans when their beaches are overflowing with tourists. We’ll spend the afternoon enjoying a picnic, soaking up the sun, and swimming in Kiri’s chilly crystal blue water.. On the way we’ll take a short detour to two famous bridges in the area. The first is Ura e Mesit (“the bridge in the middle”) outside Shkodra built in the 18th century during the Turkish occupation. The second Urë e Shtrenjtë (“the expensive bridge”) is a modern bridge built with help from OxFam to connect a small Albanian community with the rest of the world. The story is truly astounding, but you have to see it for yourself. Essentially this is a Private tour where you will have a guide with you that will take you in all those secret places where you can swim and take back plenty of unforgivable memories. * Vegetarian options available, please let us know 24 hrs in advance Itinerary The tour will take up to 5 hours in total. We will depart around 14:30 from center of Shkodra (hotel pick up) or at a time coordinated with us, toward Mesi Bridge where we will have a stop and visit the bridge. Then north to Ura e Shtrejte” (The Expensive Bridge), and at the end Prekal where we will swim and have a picnic day. There are plenty of great places to stop on the road as alternative for swimming.
